THE RAF’s Sam Hall kept his career airborne, making it a hat-trick of pro wins on Saturday night.

The ring education continued for the impressively built welter with a clean sweep 40-36 four round win over journeyman Jake Osgood on BCB’s Aldersley Stadium, Wolverhampton, bill.

More important than the win – Carlisle’s Osgood wasn’t there to upset the applecart -  is the fact Hall continues to show improvements. He’s adapting well to the new code.

The Telford boxer showed good head movement, worked for openings inside and has gained the pro trick of tapping with shots before unloading the big stuff.

He also showed patience against an opponent closing in on 100 fights who was content to spend long periods against the ropes, gloves cupped around his face. For the most part, Osgood offered only lead jabs.

Hall (10st 11lbs) showed good shape, jabbing to the head, then unloading hooks to the body. Osgood (10st 12lbs) showed a little more ambition in the third, but would invariably break off exchanges and seek the sanctuary of the ropes.

Up close, Hall continued to work away and maybe could’ve used uppercuts more to prise open his opponent’s tight guard. He kept the punches flowing at close quarters in the last, although Osgood landed three fast jabs down the stretch.

Barrel chested and with a Jack Dempsey style crewcut, Sam looks the part. Behind the scenes trainers Mitch Roberts and Lou Vidor are working hard to make him the part.
