Unbeaten Norman joins the BCB stable

Prospect Dylan Norman…now training with John Costello

UNBEATEN Knowle prospect Dylan Norman has joined Black Country Boxing Promotion’s rapidly expanding stable.

The light-welter (super-light in today’s terminology) will be trained by John Costello, the man guiding Ryan Kelly to major titles.

For Norman, yet to taste defeat after 10 starts, it’s the third change of boxing bases in a career stretching back to 2021.

He was originally with former middleweight champ Wayne Elcock, switched to Jon Pegg’s Eastside gym and has now signed on the dotted line with Errol Johnson’s BCB.

The 25-year-old, who last fought in February, will make his debut for the promotional outfit at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham Airport, on Sunday, November 9. Chelmsley Wood’s Kelly, one of the best light-middles in the business, headlines.

Straight-talking Costello said: “With Dylan, it’s small steps. I need a couple of fights with Dylan, a couple of camps – get a feel of the lad and he gets a feel of me.

“I was surprised by his strength, he’s a very strong lad, but he still has so much to learn. I’m looking at light-welter – 10st – and he’ll have to work to make that.

“I’m very excited. He’s picking things up, learning very quickly and he and Ryan get on like a house on fire – they live close to each other.”

He added: “I’m enjoying working with Dylan, he takes things in like a sponge. He fell out with the game, now he’s got a spring in his step. He’s happy in himself.”

Norman, who enjoys very solid support, said on BCB’s social media stream: "I believe it’s a massive step in the right direction for me.

"After seeing the champions that BCB has created, I believe I can join the long list that they have. I’m looking forward to making my return in November with a new team and new management. I believe the best of me is yet to come and with my new team, I believe they will get the best out of me.”
