Brayden Dyer…Acocks Green 17-year-old has lost only six of 62 bouts

ACOCKS Green ABC may have spawned a future star in Brayden Dyer, a teenager who looks something special.

This month, Brayden has the chance to show exactly how special when he represents his country in the European under 19s championships. The tournament takes place in Loznica, Serbia, from August 11 to 22.

Selection in the 50 kg category is an achievement in itself: Brayden, from Tamworth, is only 17. Dad Anthony, who coaches him with Craig Storer, said: “Brayden lost by a split decision to a Georgian in the European Junior Championships and I thought he was unlucky. One hundred per cent, he’s learned from it.

“He’ll move up to senior level next year and look for trophies there.”

Brayden – a boxer since the age of 11 - has already collected plenty of silverware in a 62 bout career that features only six losses. He’s won four national titles, the GB Three Nation and 12 box cups, including the prestigious Haringey competition.

Dad Anthony added: “Brayden will now look to build on his domestic and international success, hoping for a good European campaign and his sights firmly set on becoming Amateur World Champion before the end of the year.”
