Denny to face Grant at Dudley Town Hall

TYLER Denny, one of the game’s true craftsmen, gets the chance to shed ring-rust at one of the small hall venues where his amazing journey began.
The southpaw fights on BCB’s December 5 “Infiltrate” show at Dudley Town Hall – a familiar venue for the former European middleweight champ. That’s the European title proper, not some alphabet organisation’s version of the crown.
In the opposite corner will be solid journeyman Grant Dennis who took former British titleholder Nathan Heaney the distance in July.
For Tyler, aged 34, it’s a return to one of the historic Black Country halls where his skills were honed. His last nine fights have taken place on major, nationally televised shows.
And it’s the Rowley Regis star’s first outing since April when he outpointed Elvis Ahorgah.
He said: "I’m really excited to finally be back out boxing again. I'm grateful to BCB for the opportunity. It's a local show, so I’m expecting a great atmosphere. Despite talks of other fights next year, my 100 per cent focus is on Grant Dennis. I’ve been in the gym a long time without a fight date and I can’t wait to show people all the hard work that I’ve been putting in, day in, day out."
Denny’s rise through the ranks is a true Cinderella story. He was twice beaten in bids for the English title before outpointing River Wilson-Bent for the belt in 2022.
That result was the launching pad for big things. Upset victories over unbeaten prospects Bradley Rea – who went on to win the European light-heavyweight title – and Brad Pauls, later crowned British middleweight champ, saw Denny’s stock soar.
On a memorable night at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in 2023, he became European champ by halting Matteo Signani. There was to be another miracle in his locker.
Let’s be honest, he was brought in to lose to Felix Cash in his first defence of the EBU belt and few gave him a prayer. Tyler again made a mockery of the bookies’ odds by gaining victory at Resorts World last year.
The run came to an emphatic end at Wembley last September when world class puncher Hamzah Sheeraz halted Denny in two.
December will be a warm-up as Tyler looks for the high-profile fights that will get him back in the big time. In all, he’s won 20 of 26 (three draws).
*The undercard sees a fascinating clash between unbeaten Liam Carey and the dangerous Khya Preston, as well as Queensbury Promotions’ Ben Collins. The exciting Mia Holland is also in action and the professional debut of amateur standout Brandon Fells takes place on the bill.
