CHRIST The King’s Jamal Hinkson and Mubarak Ghasemi uncorked a fight of the night thriller on the Coventry club’s open-air show at Bablake Playing Fields.
And it was Ghasemi (Pound 4 Pound) who had his hand raised at the end of the senior 69kg battle. Jamal, having his first fight, made his opponent fight for every minute of every round and even had him in trouble in the second. The ref imposed a standing count on Ghasemi after right hands connected.
Christ The King’s boss Chris Delaney said: “Plenty of positives to take and lessons learned. The performance outshone the result.”

Chris said: “A very dedicated kid and certainly one to look out for.”
Mathew Walker lets the heavy stuff go against Jack Tye
In a clash of heavyweights, Mathew Walker halted Jack Tye (Emeralds) 28 seconds into the second. Walker let the heavy stuff go from the start. He dropped Tye early in the opening round and the visitor was given a standing count before the bell.
It was a short reprieve for Tye. The ref stepped in after he was downed by another big right.
Esa Islam left it too late to hit top gear against Konnor McCluskey
Esa Islam, 13, paid for a slow start, losing out on a majority to Konnor McCluskley (Exhall). McCluskey took the first two rounds on aggression and by the time Esa hit top gear, time was fast running out. A lesson learned for Esa.
