MULTI-titled Jess Barry is certainly making up for lost time with two bouts scheduled in the space of a month.

The Coventry Banshee, who has taken Midlands and English honours during a nine fight career, will be boxing at Cannock’s plush Excelsior Club as part of its March 5 St Patrick’s night card.

Then, on March 27 she’ll box in her home city on Scott Murray’s major show at the Connexions Arena.

Jess, aged 31, is evidently in a hurry after being sidelined with a neck injury. She last boxed in April, gaining a points win over Laela El Ksiri in France.

Barry was scheduled to make her comeback next month, but the Cannock show was scrapped. She’s hungry to compete for major titles at the new weight of super-bantam.

Speaking about the injury, Jess recently told me: “It put me out for so long and stopped me going to the gym completely which was difficult. Keeping fit is what keeps me happy.”

“I’d like a title fight straight away,” she added. “After an eight rounder I’d like my next one to be a title fight.

“I’d love to fight (British super-bantam champ) Tysie Gallagher for her belts. I’m not in my early 20s anymore, I want to take the risks and take the big fights.”
