Ash faces Bulgarian on Boxxer big show
Ashley Eales…rewarded for superb upset victory last time out
GOOD to see Ashlee Eales get the big TV chance he deserves following a career best performance.
After sensationally stopping Irish hope Daniel O’Sullivan in May, the Nuneaton showman has been rewarded with a slot on Boxxer’s major August 8 show at First Direct Bank Arena, Leeds. The card is topped by the mouthwatering super-middle rematch between Troy Williamson and Callum Simpson.
It’s a stiff test for former Midlands light-middleweight champ Eales, but that’s the way he wants it. Ashlee craves major contests on major shows. It’s good to see the likeable southpaw’s ambitions being fulfilled.
In Leeds, Ashlee will face strong, heavy handed Diego Krasimirov, a Spanish based Bulgarian, over eight rounds. Krasimirov has won all 10 pro contests, five inside distance, but has yet to be truly tested.
Last time out, he despatched Marco Simmonds – a Black Country boxer with a 3-4 record, in six. As Ashlee put it: “I’ll test his chin and heart.”
Last time out, Eales hammered out a real warning by belting unbeaten Dublin prospect Daniel O’Sullivan in six. Ashlee has an unorthodox style coupled with real KO power.
Trainer Lee Spare said: “Ashlee has always believed himself – he’s a very good talker, but that win has given him a lot more belief. He’s training really hard, he’s following the programme, he’s not missing any sessions, he’s earning everything that comes.
“It’s all in his hands – he knows how good he can be.”
Eales certainly knows how to sell himself on the big stage. He was close to bagging a bout on the July 25 Anthony Joshua show in Riyadh, with an unbeaten Indian Olympian in the opposite corner.
That fell through only to be replaced by an equally tantalising proposition at home.
It’ll be Ashlee’s second appearance on a Boxxer promotion at the Leeds venue. Last December, he stepped in as a last minute replacement to face Elliot Whale, boxed smartly before running out of steam and being halted in six.
